Community – the most underrated element of survival

Midlife is a time of flux. For some it might be a slight tweak to the life they lead, while for others it’s a full bulldozer to the life they once had, and a complete rebirth. Throughout that journey, one key element that determines whether you thrive or merely survive, is the community you surround yourself with.

For the first time in my life, I’ve been networking (and not with work colleagues).  I’ve been going to sessions and meeting like-minded people who are passionate about what they do, creating lives that resonate with their interests and dreams, that are purpose driven.

These people proudly share the steps they’re taking to re-write the narrative of what a successful life looks like; one filled with joy and fulfilment, connection and empowerment.

It’s a wonder more people aren’t doing this. Maybe it’s because of social expectations - go to school, then higher education and get a job. Follow this path for stability and security. Don’t step off the path or you risk losing it all! What a fear-led mentality we’ve all been following.

So I’m calling it - it’s time to step off the path! Look around and decide for yourself if you’re living the life you want. If you’re not, it’s time to find your community. The one that will lift you up and carry you into your new way of being.
